Melendy Johnson

Melendy Johnson is a Rhode Island based music educator, student and future school administrator. Melendy is currently pursuing a Bachelors degree at Rhode Island College in Music (concentration in education) and a Bachelor’s of Arts (concentration in Music History). She has been awarded scholarships for her outstanding musicianship and scholarly commitment. Melendy is an officer within the RIC Women’s Chorus and College Chorus, with which she has recently received consideration for Grammy recognition. She has studied voice with Georgette Hutchins and Lori Phillips while studying at Rhode Island College. Under the direction of Dr. Teresa Coffman DMA, Melendy’s love and passion for music and teaching has flourished and continues to expand. She is well versed in many varying music styles and instrumentation being a member of RIC Early Music Ensemble (as a vocalist and keyboardist) and Wind Ensemble (as a flautist). She has a deep passion for Romantic, Baroque and even modern day popular music. Melendy is offering lessons to any beginning student in piano as her recent studies, over several semesters with J.T. Stott at RIC, have strengthened her knowledge and understanding of the instrument and required musical theory.
