Ben earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Rhode Island College and a Master of Music at the University of Rhode Island with a focus on Jazz trombone and improvisation. He taught a History of Jazz course at URI from 2021-2023 and is the Conductor and Principal Trombonist for the 88th Army Band with the RI National Guard in East Greenwich. Ben was the orchestra director and general music teacher at Tiverton Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year and also did his student teaching the prior year at the Narragansett Middle School/High School. He loves to teach beginning to intermediate students of all ages, as well band advanced players of trombone and euphonium. He is a brass instrument expert. Today, you can hear him play trombone throughout New England with the New Orleans-styled "Catnip Junkies," the 88th Army Band and the infamous brass band "Coyote Brass," as well as with the Greg Sherrod band.
